Preparation:

The test is performed transvaginally, for the examination it is necessary to empty the urinary bladder.
For patients who have not had intercourse, the examination is performed usually through the rectum or possibly through the abdominal integuments, depending on the diagnostic needs and the doctor's decision. depending on the diagnostic needs and the doctor's decision.
For the Transrectal examination no preparation is required (no need to perform an enema or follow a proper diet).
For a transabdominal examination, the bladder should be filled.
An ultrasound can be performed on any day of the cycle, unless the referring physician indicated otherwise.
